Some Pros And Cons Of Universal Health Care

By Brooke Nash

Many people have been working to get universal health coverage into the United States. The model has been the Canadian or United Kingdom model. The idea of free health care is a strong inducement for this discussion at every level of one major political party. This is part of a list of the pros and cons of universal health care that needs to be looked at before actually taking over in the United States.

One of the pros is that this type of system is to cover almost everyone. The greatest system, currently, in the world is to be offered to all without, it is said, concern for whether they can afford it or not. The con to this, of course, is that if someone can not afford the coverage, the government is to voucher them into the system. Since the government does not have money unless it taxes the people, tax rates will have to go up.

A large portion of other countries in the world have universal coverage. The difference is that there are private insurance companies that can be purchased from for anything the government plan does not cover. They have also had to leave their country for others to get some of the life saving measures that do not have funding under their program.

Having, at its core, a decision to save money is a definite pro. The con could be in the way that is done. The French board, known as N. I. C. E. Has cost many people their lives or fortunes because of the algorithms used to deny attention to many. In the United States, this has already caused a lot of good Doctors to give up their practices for lack of sufficient payment for services.

A pro would be that many people who have not had the opportunity to have an insurance policy can have that piece of paper. The con would be that without the Doctors and other related professionals to administer it, the paper would be a cruel joke. The level of concern will go down as it has in all developed countries that have this system.

The Affordable Care act, know as ObamaCare, in the United States has begun the cuts to Doctor's pay and drug reimbursement. The costs of all insurance premiums have gone up more than the costs savings advertizing it to the American people. Taxes on new medical devices will deny this type of technology to many and the medical research will begin to slow to a standstill very quickly.

To many people, the idea that something as important as health care can be accessed for free is a very big pro. To those who have read the history books and the headlines in today's newspaper, it is a con that their freedom and liberty can not abide. This list of the pros and cons of universal health care is only a small portion of those that can be counted.
